“Ajimu: Beach Story is a weird case where a series is completely average and does not leave you with much to say about it yet itโ€™s worth talking about. It also happens to begin in a most alienating way yet if you stick with it, it ends in a somewhat satisfactory manner.

The premise and ov” read more

In 2017 Trigger announced that they were working on three different anime soon to come out, one was the most disappointing Darling in the FranXX, another was the upcoming Promare, and the third one was this show, also very disappointing. It has a lot of similarities with Darling in the FranXX, it's about giant robots fighting giant robot-like monsters and then aliens appear behind the scenes to make things even more complicated, there's an eccentric girl and an amnesiac boy as the center of the story, and of course, fanservice and boring and melodramatic teenage drama. It suffers from similar issues as the other show, it does not mix its various elements so well and, unlike Darling...it does not have that good production values. With that said, this show is better because is shorter, faster and it has a anti escapism message of sorts but it's still not good. Since it takes elements from two tokusatsu shows and makes references to them, I guess you have to watch them to appreciate the story a bit more, but I'm not doing that, I don't like that type of series. I wonder how fans of the older Gridman felt with this series, which focused on this awful characters and became popular only because of the thighs of a 15 year old animated girl and it had porn based on it all over the internet two weeks after it began? I'd hate the show with all my heart if I were any of them. Oh well, let's hope Promare will be, at least, entertaining and if it isn't, then Trigger is dead.

-It's an adaptation of an Argentinian comic, which means it's based on a product of my country thus it peaked my interest instantly. -It's a collaboration between Japan and Canada, so it's already rare enough to check it out. -It's closer to a cartoon than an anime in every aspect, especially visuals, which means it's very unique. So, there were various reasons to check this one out but the visuals and the battle choreography were the only interesting things in it, other than that is a monster of the week type of cartoon and, supposedly, an incomplete and toned-down version of the comic book aimed at kids. It's quite boring and killed my interest in checking out its source material.
